For a while we’ve been hinting that we had a new project we’ve been working on. At last, it’s online and ready to go! Introducing The Gaming Rx, your source for all gaming on all platforms! Why did we create The Gaming Rx? Well, it’s easy to get burnt out on a game, now we have every game…including of course Gears of War / Gears of War 2. This site will remain up so anyone can access the wealth of information that is already here but in the future we’ll be spending most of our time posting in the new The Gaming Rx Forums.

After last week’s dominating week by Gizmoh, we thought it would be difficult to choose this week’s Addict of The Week. Fortunately, Wildcody123 stepped up and made the decision a lot easier for us. At this point, I’m fairly convinced that Wildcody123 some other life form that doesn’t sleep…actually I know this isn’t true because he fell asleep while trying to find a match at one point this week . Wildcody123 played Gears of War 2 among other games with everyone pretty much everyday this week. Even when he wasn’t playing, he would still sit in the party and socialize or something. We had a ton of fun playing this week / weekend. Cody and I (Hughes03) had some fun chainsawing some n00bs a few times this weekend also.

Quick Note: This week, we decided to change the Player of The Week to Addict of The Week. This change will remain in effect in the future. Now…on to business…

For this week’s Addict of The Week we chose Gizmoh. It was pretty easy to pick him with confidence, he gave us plenty of reasons.  First off, he was the first non chairman to contribute articles to the Gears of War Addicts website. In case you haven’t seen them, check the main page for the Gears of War 2 Survival Guide series, it’s broken up into 3 parts. I for one think he did an excellent job breaking this game down and explaining everything. Second on the list was that throught it all, Gizmoh great sport this week, even when he was lagging with xXWhoDeyXx85 & all of the laggers this weekend. We all played with Gizmoh a lot this week and got to know him a little. He was extremely active on the site and the forums. He also made the “Heros of War” video which turned out awesome! If you haven’t seen it yet, go check it out. xNNx FURY (formerly Dinokiller999) also sent a request to all of the chairman nominating Gizmoh for player of the week stating “I think Gizmoh should be member of the week, maybe rank up as well. He’s been helping me a hella lot lately.” Thats what we like to see in our members for sure!

For this weeks Gears of War Addict Member of The Week, we chose one of our best members, Slade Kechara. This makes Slade the first ever second time Member of The Week. Why did we pick Slade? First off, he’s been extremely active on the website. Secondly, he suggested this week’s horde mode challenge which turned out to be a blast! Third, he was extremely helpful in straightening everything out and getting our horde mode challenge off the ground after 4 people failed to show up, completely destroying our original team setup. On behalf of all of the Gears of War Addict Chairmen, I would like to thank Slade Kechara for his great idea and for being an extremely awesome member.

Our first Horde mode challenge is over and boy was it an interesting. After a rocky start due to about 5 people failing show up to play. We spent about 20 – 30 minutes trying to sort out who was playing with who, shuffling teams and tearing our hair out. In the end, everything ended up OK. We ended up with 2 teams of 3 & one team of 4. Team XHolyschnikiesX & Team xXWhoDeyXx85 each had 3 members while Team Hughes03 had 4 members. All teams were drawn at random by a computerized randoming program. As a handicap, the Hughes03 team didn’t start until about 5 minutes after the other teams and Team Hughes03 also gave the other teams an extra 5 minutes at the end. This brings the grand total of handicap to 10 minutes. Based on rankings, kills, stats, etc. the teams were pretty balanced, especially with the 10 minute handicap for the 3 man teams.

Finally, the most important part…who won…Check out the results below to see who was on each team and who made it the farthest.

Note: We played to 50 rounds or until 1:00AM, at which time the ruling was based on which team made it the farthest in the Horde rounds.

We also decided to rank up some members based on their performance in the Horde mode challenge. The members who rank up are those who had the most kills on their team, except for the chairman. The players who rank up are: CurdledLizard, WildCody123, Snugtasslehoff & XxLoBoToM1ZeDxX. Two people were ranked up from Team xXWhoDeyXx85 based on a technicality. Congrats to everyone who ranked up!

We’d also like to thank everyone who participated in the Horde mode challenge. It was a lot of fun and we’ll definitely have to do it again. As a last minute note, Slade Kechara is the member who suggested a Horde mode challenge. Slade, we’re ranking you up too! Thanks for the suggestion!

Gears of War Addict Member of The Week, Week 5

This week was another difficult week in choosing the Gears of War Addict Member of The Week. Unfortunately, this week, there wasn’t one glaring member that stood out among the rest so yet again, we’re breaking our own rules. We have chosen two members who deserve some recognition. The first Gears of War Addict Member of The Week is one of our newest members and our only female member, pikminlink. Pikminlink spent a lot of time on the Gears of War Addict website as well as the forums. We are proud to have her but unfortunately we didn’t get to play with her a whole lot this week. The second Gears of War Addict Member of The Week is Wildcody123. Wildcody123 spent a lot of time playing Gears of War 2 among other games with us, probably more than anyone else, with the exception of last weeks Member of The Week, DeMoNiC NiNjA62.

This week, we’re actually posting the Gears of War Addict Member of The Week on time. For this week’s member of the week, we chose a member who has definitely spend the most time playing with members of the clan this week. Both in Gears of War 2 and other games, he was willing to play and help. He helped both XxWhoDeyxX85 & XHolySchnikiesX  beat the final boss in Resident Evil 5, played constantly this week, and was just all around sociable the entire week. This week’s Member of The Week is none other than our first and only Corporal, DeMoNiC NiNjA62 formerly known as SatansAssassin4.

This week’s member of the week was a tough one for the chairmen of Gears of War Addict. We were able to narrow it down but ultimately there were two members that we couldn’t decide between. After a lot of deliberation and debate of simply flipping a coin to decide, we made a decision. We decided to have two members of the week! These two members are both relatively new to the Gears of War Addict clan yet have already shown their loyalty and are great players. As most know, during the tournament, we had some issues with some little kids to say the least. These two members stood up for the clan and for the decision of the chairmen to disqualify the players. They were ready to go to battle with and for Gears of War Addict and in a way did, verbally / textually. Both of these members brought a new member to the clan this past weekend. Both were great sports during the messy tournament we held this past weekend. Are you starting to figure out why we couldn’t pick between the two?

With that, I would like to congratulate both Gizmoh & Slade Kechara on being the second member of the week for Gears of War Addict. Congrats to you both!

Our second tournament is over, and I think I speak for everyone when I say, thank God!! As the saying goes “it only takes one person to ruin it for everyone”, well, we had 4+ to ruin it for everyone. This was our first public tournament and we ended up with a pretty good crowd. We had 16 members total, 10 were clan members (or became clan members) & 6 were people we had never heard from or played with. Right from the start, we had our worries that there were going to be problems. The rules for our tournament were that no matter what you didn’t kill the ref. / host or you would be disqualified. Unfortunately, we had 2 teams that decided to kill him in back to back rounds. Long story short, they threw a fit like the little kids they were when we told them they were out.

So the big queston…who won? Well, officially, no one. The tournament got so messed up with all of the little morons that joined up that among all of us we decided to play one last round with all the left over people. In that round, the results were as follows:

No, that wasn’t a typo, 3rd place was a tie and we decided to just leave it. I would like to thank everyone who participated in the tournament for both sticking up for GWA and for putting up with all of the crap. I would also like to welcome both pikminlink and itz cond3mned, our 2 newest members. As a token of our appreciation, we decided to rank everyone who played last night up, including the new members. Congrats to everyone on the rank ups!

What does this mean for future tournaments?

Well, to be honest, we haven’t decided. One thing is for certain, we will have some sort of screening process. If any of you have any suggestions, leave a comment or contact one of our chairman and let them know your thoughts. We’re thinking either, you have to be a clan member or vouched for by a clan member or that you have to play a few rounds with a chairman.

Will we stop having tournaments?

Hell no! We’ll be back on with another tournament next weekend so keep an eye on the website for more details and exact dates.
