This message is to tell everyone one that is wanting to “join the clan.” We are not accepting any new members at this time. We will not be hosting any official competitions for a while (maybe ever) due to the amount of douchebags we’ve had to deal with in the past./lack of participation.. etc.

I still would like for all of the “Clan members” and well.. everyone else for the matter, to come and check back on this site for anything Gears. Even though we will not be doing anything “clan related” I will still keep the Gears of War Addicts site up-to-date as best as I can (prolly not quite as much ,but i will) this is still Gears of War Addicts…

My passion for video games has not died out.. Myself and the other Chairman have talked about a few ideas lately and may implement them soon. I’m not sure how any of this going to pan out.. but we will figure somthing out and will keep everyone posted.

This weeks Addict was kinda hard to choose. There wasn’t one the clan member that stood out of rest. This week’s “Addict of the Week” is not just for this week alone, more of ever since she has been in the clan.. For this weeks “Addict of The Week” We have chosen xGWAx EdieKaye.

EdieKaye has been one the best clan members we have ever had. She is always on the site (which is what we like to see from the addicts.) She recently got her internet working to where she can actaully play with us as well. Shes not the best, but is a great sport and I know I speak for the clan.. I enjoy playing with her. Edie you’ve been such a great clan member, Thank you for all that you have done..

This week was a pretty tough descion for me and the other Chairman.. After much debating on who should be “Addict of The Week” We decided to choose xGWAxBaGelEATER aka DraftyJordan. BaGelEATER was on Gears 2 alot this week. Even though I didn’ play as much as I would of liked to. When I was on he was either playing Gears with us, or he was playing with other clan members pretty much all week.

Gears of War is awesome yet it never hit the top of the live usage charts and it gets criticized like no other even after 4 title updates. If Epic could make the following changes/additions, I think this would easily be atop the usage charts and dive deeper into the hearts of the average gamer.

Focus On Online Quality BEFORE Releasing the Game

• I know much about how coding,servers,etc. I do know is this: Gears of War 2 has shown the world how to drop the ball in regards to competitive multiplayer. If so many other games can prevent host advantage, massive lagging or map exploits, why has it been so hard for Epic to do so as well? Get on your QA and come out guns blazing with a stable online service. I guarantee you’ll see a massive boost in players.

We Find Out About Adam Fenix

• He was mentioned, but only briefly in Gears of War 2 and now it’s time for the veil to be removed from what exactly Adam Fenix was up to prior to Gears of War 1. We visited his former estate, we’ve heard the Locust Queen speak of him as if she’s had some kind of interaction with Marcus’s father and the final few seconds after the credits have finished feature a great voiceover from Adam himself. But even still, we know essentially the same information as we did at the end of Gears 1. It’s time we find out exactly where Mr. Fenix’s allegiances lie.

Bigger, Better and More Open Gameplay

• Rather than just throwing players into straightforward encounters with wave-after-wave of Locust creatures, give us a more thrilling experience with enemies surrounding our quartet of heroes whenever possible. Gears 2 was too much about marching forward without looking around because there were no threats less those in front of you. Gears 3 should not only include enemies from every direction for designed set pieces, but it should also allow the player to design their route to combat. Opening the environments only slightly and rethinking the way cover is laid out could change Gears gameplay for the better.

Better Boss Fights

• Gears of War 2 had some interesting, new, and cool boss fights. Skorge was introduced with about a 5 – 10 minute boss fight with chain saw duels, but some people were a little disappointed because it wasn’t all that hard unlike the RAAM battle in Gears 1. It seemed hard, but after you beat it, it just seems easy. Skorge is presumed dead, but if he does or doesn’t come back, we want a harder finishing boss battle. The Leviathon was pretty cool as well. I liked it and it required strategy, so there might or not be some of them in Gears 3. Some people are wondering what happened to the Beserkers in Gears 1? People really liked those and maybe there could be a chapter explaining those in Gears 3. Also, people liked the Corpser battle in Gears 1, so it could be optional to put it in Gears 3.

Fight a Brumak For Real

• This one kind of goes hand in hand with the “Harder bosses” but needs to be done. Now piloting a Brumak was cool the first time through and there are plenty of on-rails scenarios where Brumaks pop up for players to fight in Gears of War 2 but for Gears 3 we want to fight one of those suckers on-foot. Marcus and company laying into a Brumak with nothing but grenades and lancer fire sounds like an orgasmic experience to us and the fact that PC gamers to play exactly that in Gears 1 feels like a slap in the face.

Add More To Horde Mode

• Horde Mode was great, don’t get us wrong. We loved marching through 50 waves of tough-as-nails enemies across all the maps, but we couldn’t help but feel like it could have been better. For starters, can we not have the same mix of enemies every ten waves? Yes, they level up, but they’re identical in number and variety. That gets boring really quick.Make Horde only maps! Put Reavers in horde to really up the difficulty. Also, the 50th wave should feature some sort of boss fight that is unique to each level.

Add a Four Player Campaign

• Simple enough. Allow 4 players to play cooperatively in the main campaign. This is a very popular feature with the few games that have enabled it and could speak well of Epic’s respect for fans of teamwork and camaraderie. Imagine rolling out as Marcus, Dom, Cole, and Baird controlled by your friends, it would be simply…epic.

Customizeable Gears in Multiplayer

• Instead of having millions of Carmines and Theron Guards running around why not have a create a character feature for the online play? You could start from a base model and go from there.. with different armors/weight & height etc.

Female Gear

• Maybe there could be a tough playable female gear in the campaign and multiplayer which would be pretty cool.

Well, in a nutshell that is one average man’s view on what would help the Gears of War series get back not only onto the top of the Live usage charts but into many gamers hearts as well.I can only hope someone at Epic has had this same brainstorming session and implements at least one, if not all, of these ideas.

For this weeks Gears of War Addicts “Addict of The Week.” We chose xGWAx JAYHAWK for several reasons. He has shown great dedication to GWA getting on the website and even playing gears with us finding time to play while he is still on vacation with his family. Just a  few days ago he mentioned to us that his family car broke down on vacation. He still found a way to play with us in all of these different locations in hotels. lol, I dont know about you guys but I would call that dedication to our clan.

I would also like to mention that although he doesn’t really care much for achievements like some of us do, he still willingly sticks around and plays horde with us on the new Dark Corners maps to assist us in getting them. Also, After the discussion of making the clan this clan more ranged in games and not just GWA, he stuck with me and some of the other clan members to keep this clan a general gears of war clan like we all signed up to be.

I think that JAYHAWK deserves a rank up.. For this JAYHAWK is now a .:GWA:. Private

Allfather’s Garden(N00BiNATR’s Favorite)

This is probably the largest map in the new collection in terms of square footage. Its long sight lines and wide-open spaces should make it a paradise for snipers.I think thats why n00b likes it.. The only thing really going for you in terms of avoiding long-range headshots is the fact that the level is set at night, and the darkness can make it hard to spot movement from a long way away. The level is so big I’m sure horde wouldnt be much fun.

Memorial

While not as big as Allfather’s Garden, Memorial does offer some pretty wide-open spaces for long-range combat. At one end, you have the Eternal Flame, ringed by low cover and with a heavy-weapon spawn just behind it. Usually, the mortar or Hammer of Dawn spawn back here, and since there’s almost no overhead cover nearby, the corner it’s nestled in is the best spot to utilize either one. In the middle of the map is a circular room with the Boomshot in it, but the level above that offers an angle for enemies to shoot down on you.

Sanctuary

A tight map based around one central room with three distinct pathways through it and around it, Sanctuary is set in a bombed-out building that resembles a small cathedral. There’s a weapon spawn in the middle of the room, of course, but a Boomshot can usually be found on the upper-tiered route that goes around the outside. Since the building has been heavily damaged, you can shoot down from that upper route, just as you can shoot down from the room on to the lower route that wraps around the building’s other side. A smallish map compared to the others battles here are fast and hectic, though there are some pretty defensible spots.

War Machine

War Machine should look familiar to those who played the original Gears of War multiplayer. It’s a remake of a map from that game, also titled War Machine. Basically, it’s a large underground train platform that spawns the two teams on opposite sides of the tracks. Obstacles on the platform and on the rails provide plenty of cover, and the wide rectangular design was practically made for flanking maneuvers. Sorry guys theres no Troika.. The Mulcher takes it’s place.

Highway

Highway takes place in a location very similar to the area explored in the “Road to Ruin” deleted scene that makes up the new single-player component of the DLC. The level consists of some twisting hallways on both sides that lead to a more open area, which has two basic levels containing a number of weapon spawns of different types. This is an easy map to get lost in, so game types that center around one particular place (Annex, King of the Hill) are usually the best.

Way Station

The main feature of this level is a long track of mine cars suspended over a pit of molten goo that separates this level into two distinct sides. It can’t be crossed until someone goes down to the control room at the end and hits the button to start up the train, and raise a walkway. Of course, you could just go to said control room and climb up and over it to get to the other side, but opening up that middle crossing can be a good or bad idea, depending on what you’re trying to do.

Nowhere(My Favorite)

Nowhere is a simple map, but a really fun one to play, it’s basically a large open area between low buildings with some rusting cars and a few other bits of cover to get behind. On one side, in the middle, is a building where you can go up to the roof. There you will find a heavy weapon spawn and a perfect view of the parking lot on which to use it.

Across the way are two buildings that you can go inside and it has counters you can take cover behind.There’s also a little spot out behind those buildings that you can see from the original spawnpoint, but can’t get to without going around. Nowhere is a great medium-size map I would have to say its the most unique and probably my favorite.

Overall

Overall the maps are great. I would have to say that this is the best map pack that Epic has ever produced. I think that is well worth the money to get “Dark Corners” map pack. If I had to give these maps a rating out of 10.. I would give this map pack a 9.5. It is everything that I would expect from a map pack and more. The addition of the “Deleted Scene” was awesome as well, its not really as much as I was expecting(It was really short)

WOW!! Thats about the only word that can decribe this tournament.. Boy was it awesome.. Everything ran fairly smoothly. We had the championship live on the GWA website.. It was a good match for sure.. Beatdown barley beat KAMiKAZE 3-2. However Beatdown could not get past our first chairman (Lockdown) So he is just the “Champ” not the “Grand Champ”.. I would like to say thank you to all the particiapated.. and congrats to our Champion xGWAx Beatdown.. Enjoy them points(Dont spend it all in one place)

This week was a difficult week in choosing the Gears of War Addicts “Addict of The Week.”  We decided to choose two members who deserve some recognition. The first Gears of War Addicts ”Addict of The Week” is one of our newest members, xGWAx JAYHAWK aka Haadurin. xGWAx JAYHAWK played with Me (PWNiSH3R) and a bunch of the other clan members a lot this week. Everytime I was on he was either in a party with some of the other clan members or in a party with us Chairman. He was on the site a hell of alot this week too. He also changed his Gamertag to “Rep the GWA.”

Now on to the second “Addict of the Week.” xGWAx Patriot aka Patriot07 played Gears of War 2 among other games with us pretty much everyday this week. Even when he wasn’t playing, he would still sit in the party and socialize or something. We had a ton of fun playing this week. He also changed his Gamertag to “Rep the GWA.” xGWAx JAYHAWK & xGWAx Patriot you guys deserve to be this weeks “Addict of The Week”

For this tournament we will have a 1v1 Singe Elmination style tournament. The Chairman will sit out,and the rest of you will duke it out. Once someone has defeated everyone, they are pronounced Champion. BUT! Thats not the end. After that, the “Champ” goes through 1 vs. 1 with the Chairman. And if they can beat us they are named Grand Champion. Grand Championship will be streaming live on the GWA Website. xGWAx Lockdown will be taking the place of Hughes03 for this tournament(Hughes03 will be on vacation) Being disrespectful, mean, offensive, etc. to any clan member, will result in a DQ for you. Remember this is all in good fun, and please try not to take it too seriously.

What’s the prize? The winner of this tournament will recieve a code for 1600 MS Points.. just in time for the “All Fronts Collection“(Grand Champion is just for fun)

Each game will be hosted and refereed by a Gears of War Addicts Chairman or General. The hosting Chairman or General will be on the locust team and will play as the white locust. The official will stay out of the way and do his best not to be a distraction. If you kill the official you will automatically lose all 3 rounds unless the official determines it was his own fault. One stalemate per match will be allowed. In the event of 2 stalemates, the hosting Chairman or General will determine if one player was purposely forcing a stalemate and award the opposite player the winner. In the event of 2 stalemates and neither player is at fault, the hosting Chairman or General will flip a coin to determine the winner.

If for some reason the person you are matched up with doesn’t show up you will be awarded an automatic win and advance in the tournament. The decisions of the Gears of War Addicts Chairmen & Generals are final and non-disputable.

The tournament will be open to only clan members! Anyone who wants to particpate in this tournament leave a reply to this post with your gamertag to let us know that you’re interested. The deadline to let us know is Friday July 17th by 11:59 P.M. After we figure out how many players we have, we’ll make a bracket and let you know who you’re playing. The bracket will be up Saturday July 18th.

The tournament will be held Sunday, July 19th, 2009 @ 9:00pm EST.If any one has any sugestions, comments etc. on the rules and or weapon selection.. or anything in this post for that matter. Post and comment and give us your opinion.
