Gears of War Addicts would like to start getting into GameBattles. For those of you who aren’t familiar with GameBattles, this is basically a match against another team or clan, organized and tracked on and through the GameBattles website. We’re allowing ALL of our members to participate in these GameBattles, the only thing we ask and require is that you leave a comment to this post stating that you would like to play. We have 13 spots available so there’s more than enough room for everyone. We plan to simply rotate the players once we get the final number of members that want to participate.

This Saturday, May 30th, 2009, will be our unofficial GameBattles scrimmage / training session. Hopefully Gizmoh and iTz CoNd3mNeD will be around to help out with this. For this weeks Gears of War Addict Member of The Week, we chose one of our best members, Slade Kechara. This makes Slade the first ever second time Member of The Week. Why did we pick Slade? First off, he’s been extremely active on the website. Secondly, he suggested this week’s horde mode challenge which turned out to be a blast! Third, he was extremely helpful in straightening everything out and getting our horde mode challenge off the ground after 4 people failed to show up, completely destroying our original team setup. On behalf of all of the Gears of War Addict Chairmen, I would like to thank Slade Kechara for his great idea and for being an extremely awesome member.

This Horde mode challenges will feature teams of 5, all hosted by a Gears of War Addict Chairman or General. Each team will play with the exact same game type specifications and the matches will begin at the exact same time. The teams will race to see who can complete the goal number of rounds first. The hosting Chairman or General will report to the others when their team has finished all rounds. The times will be recorded and reported by the official. The decisions of the Gears of War Addict Chairmen & Generals are final and non-disputable.

The tournament will be open to Gears of War Addict clan members and their friends. Anyone who chooses to participate in this Challenge, leave a reply to this post letting us know you’re in and if you’re bringing a friend. If you are bringing a friend, leave their GT so we can place them in the roster. The deadline to enter is Friday, May 1st @ 11:59 P.M.  After we figure out how many players we have, we’ll set the teams. The Horde Challenge will be held Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 @ 10:00pm EST.

This week was another difficult week in choosing the Gears of War Addict Member of The Week. Unfortunately, this week, there wasn’t one glaring member that stood out among the rest so yet again, we’re breaking our own rules. We have chosen two members who deserve some recognition. The first Gears of War Addict Member of The Week is one of our newest members and our only female member, pikminlink. Pikminlink spent a lot of time on the Gears of War Addict website as well as the forums. We are proud to have her but unfortunately we didn’t get to play with her a whole lot this week. The second Gears of War Addict Member of The Week is Wildcody123. Wildcody123 spent a lot of time playing Gears of War 2 among other games with us, probably more than anyone else, with the exception of last weeks Member of The Week, DeMoNiC NiNjA62.

This week, we’re actually posting the Gears of War Addict Member of The Week on time. For this week’s member of the week, we chose a member who has definitely spend the most time playing with members of the clan this week. Both in Gears of War 2 and other games, he was willing to play and help. He helped both XxWhoDeyxX85 & XHolySchnikiesX  beat the final boss in Resident Evil 5, played constantly this week, and was just all around sociable the entire week. This week’s Member of The Week is none other than our first and only Corporal, DeMoNiC NiNjA62 formerly known as SatansAssassin4.

This week’s member of the week was a tough one for the chairmen of Gears of War Addict. We were able to narrow it down but ultimately there were two members that we couldn’t decide between. After a lot of deliberation and debate of simply flipping a coin to decide, we made a decision. We decided to have two members of the week! These two members are both relatively new to the Gears of War Addict clan yet have already shown their loyalty and are great players. As most know, during the tournament, we had some issues with some little kids to say the least. These two members stood up for the clan and for the decision of the chairmen to disqualify the players. They were ready to go to battle with and for Gears of War Addict and in a way did, verbally / textually. Both of these members brought a new member to the clan this past weekend. Both were great sports during the messy tournament we held this past weekend. Are you starting to figure out why we couldn’t pick between the two?

With that, I would like to congratulate both Gizmoh & Slade Kechara on being the second member of the week for Gears of War Addict. Congrats to you both!

Our first Gears of War Addict Member of The Week is SnugTasslehoff. Snug was pretty impressive this week. Snug spent a lot of time playing in general and with all of the clan members. After coming in third a week ago in our first Gears of War Addict tournament, Snug played enough to be in the top 500 on annex on Gears of War 2. Snug is a great player and I look forward to pwning more n00bs with him in the near future. Congrats SnugTasslehoff!

Well, our first tournament is over. It was fun while it lasted. Above you can see the top 3 and below you can see the entire bracket. In this tournament we had 3 rankings up for grabs, Sergent, Corporal, and Private. xNNx Crusader took first place claiming the Sergent title, a major jump from his previous Grub position. Corporal went to SatansAssassin4 and Private to SnugTasslehoff. Congrats to the winners!

To everyone else, keep an eye on the Gears of War Addict website as we have more tournaments planned. The next tournament will also most likely be a public one.
