Despite a recent flurry of rumors suggesting a PC port of Gears of War 2 before the end of the year, Epic Games apparently has no plans to bring the Xbox 360 hit to any other platforms. Gamespy contacted Epic’s PR guru Dana Cowley who informed them that..

which makes it clear that we won’t be seeing a PC port anytime soon.

According to IGN. The PC rumor mill started to catch on fire earlier this afternoon with info that Gears of War 2, the critically and commercially acclaimed title from Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios might come to pc. According to one website, there were plenty of details that appeared to be pulled from an upcoming press release and even a preliminary box shot with the Games for Windows logo stamped on the front and limited edition details.

As much as all of this seems like malarkey, one shouldn’t entirely rule out the possibility of Gears of War 2 on the PC. The first game released on PC in November of 2007, a full year after the release of the original Xbox 360 game. Since the sequel released on Xbox 360 in November of last year, I wouldn’t put it past Epic and Microsoft to crank the game out on PC some time in 2009.
