Game Informer has published Guinness World Records’ 2010 list of top 50 video game series of all time in. And Gears of War is #8!  The results are based on a poll answered by 13,000 regular gamers.

Check the video out. Cliff Bleszinski from Epic Games on Jimmy Fallon with the debut trailer for Gears of War 3…The new trailer premiered on Fallon’s show is called “Ashes to Ashes” and, in Bleszinski’s words, “outlines the world you’re going to see in Gears of War 3.”

The clip starts on a ruined urban setting, with ash raining down on frozen figures turned to ash in the midst of trying to escape the city. A grizzled COG soldier runs through the ruins, darting past the still, grey figures. He bashes through one as bullets impact on the ground new him. He falls and turns to us and we see it’s Dom. Just then a Locust soldier approaches. Just before he fires, a gunshot rings out from off screen and the Locust falls to the ground dead. Marcus Phoenix walks in from the right.

The camera shifts to a large firefight between the Locusts and COG. A female soldier who looks a lot like Anya walks up and hands Dom a rifle. The action cuts back to the Locusts just as they’re attacked by a massive, tentacled Lambit. Bleszinski calls them “Crazy tentacle monsters that can mutate while you’re fighting them.”

The COG soldiers are making a final stand, taking out the remaining Locust and holding strong as the Lambit approaches. The trailer fades to black and the words “Brothers to the end” appear on the screen.

Bleszinski also confirmed that double barrel shotguns and female soldiers will be in the new game and announced that the game is currently scheduled for release on April 8, 2011. Its now offical folks!!! I got three words for you Gears of War Addicts… LETS DO THIS!!!!

The Los Angeles Times reports that, after months of on-again, off-again rumors about the game-to-film, the film’s prospects have never looked worse. The paper claims New Line Cinema “has now cut the budget, going from a film that would have cost more than $100 million to one that will cost a good chunk less than that. It’s also reined in the story, turning it into a more simple, straight-ahead invasion story instead of a sprawling epic. Producers are looking for a new writer to handle all this, but haven’t found one yet.”

I seen a very similar idea on the internet, so I thought that I would shate. Imagine being able to click on a gamertag in the lobby and have a full Gears of War career profile pop up. This includes kill death ratios overall and in various game modes, time played est. much like GearsofWar.com offers now, but in the game itself and with a little more depth. This also includes showing your rank insignia, rank number and total experience bar for example. 

On top of the “Gear Career Profile” You could also have a ”Badge System.”  This would show on your Career Profile, have a full list of your earned badges. The badge system is like mixing Halo 3’s medal system with Call of Duty’s challenge system, small images or icons with challenges tied to them. (hints the Badge name) Here’s a couple of examples of the challenge based accolades, with the first one being easy difficulty, the second is medium difficulty, and the third is a hard one. Each of them having there own unique image that portays the name of the challenge/badge or whatever you wanna call it.

Tag! You’re it (Easy)

• Tag someone with a grenade

Boom! Headshot (Medium)

• In one match with the Longshot, get at least 3 headshots

That Was Easy! (Hard)

• Win a 1 v2 or more situation without using a power weapon

You can also have various ones for each weapon. Here’s an example of how the weapon system could work.
 

Sniper Grade 1 (Bronze)

• Get 50 headshots total with the Longshot in public matches.

Sniper Grade 2 (Silver)

• Complete Grade 1 Requirements
• 150 Headshots total with the Longshot in public matches.

Sniper Grade 3 (Gold)

• Complete Grade 2 Requirements
• 300 Headshots total with the Longshot in public matches.

Sniper Grade 4 (Platinum)

• Complete Grade 3 Requirements
• Achieve 500 Headshots

Your Career Profile pulls this, along with your stats, into one location. This puts a little personality into your Gears gaming without modifying the core of the game.

Pillows are something which I would prefer on any device or gadget and I guess every person who loves to sleep or is lazy would agree with me. The actual Clan portion of the GWA is dead a buried, but we are still gears of war addicts at heart. We still want to give you all of the latest gears news on our cool GWA site. Epic’s Mark Rein has confirmed to G4TV in a recent interview that the developer won’t be releasing any new titles in 2010.

“We don’t have any games coming out in 2010,” said Rein, “so from a games standpoint, it’s more about our customers’ games, right? Already this year we’ve seen some pretty great games this year — Mass Effect 2, BioShock 2…and Arkham Aslym’s coming out in 3D, the GOTY [game of the year] version, so that’ll be kinda cool.”

The rumor mill is already churning with unconfirmed whispers of two possible Epic titles due in 2011 – a new EA-published title developed by People Can Fly with the rumored title of “Bulletstorm”, along with the usual rumblings of another possible Gears of War game in the works.
