Our first Horde mode challenge is over and boy was it an interesting. After a rocky start due to about 5 people failing show up to play. We spent about 20 – 30 minutes trying to sort out who was playing with who, shuffling teams and tearing our hair out. In the end, everything ended up OK. We ended up with 2 teams of 3 & one team of 4. Team XHolyschnikiesX & Team xXWhoDeyXx85 each had 3 members while Team Hughes03 had 4 members. All teams were drawn at random by a computerized randoming program. As a handicap, the Hughes03 team didn’t start until about 5 minutes after the other teams and Team Hughes03 also gave the other teams an extra 5 minutes at the end. This brings the grand total of handicap to 10 minutes. Based on rankings, kills, stats, etc. the teams were pretty balanced, especially with the 10 minute handicap for the 3 man teams.

Finally, the most important part…who won…Check out the results below to see who was on each team and who made it the farthest.

Note: We played to 50 rounds or until 1:00AM, at which time the ruling was based on which team made it the farthest in the Horde rounds.

We also decided to rank up some members based on their performance in the Horde mode challenge. The members who rank up are those who had the most kills on their team, except for the chairman. The players who rank up are: CurdledLizard, WildCody123, Snugtasslehoff & XxLoBoToM1ZeDxX. Two people were ranked up from Team xXWhoDeyXx85 based on a technicality. Congrats to everyone who ranked up!

We’d also like to thank everyone who participated in the Horde mode challenge. It was a lot of fun and we’ll definitely have to do it again. As a last minute note, Slade Kechara is the member who suggested a Horde mode challenge. Slade, we’re ranking you up too! Thanks for the suggestion!

Gears of War Addict Member of The Week, Week 5

This Horde mode challenges will feature teams of 5, all hosted by a Gears of War Addict Chairman or General. Each team will play with the exact same game type specifications and the matches will begin at the exact same time. The teams will race to see who can complete the goal number of rounds first. The hosting Chairman or General will report to the others when their team has finished all rounds. The times will be recorded and reported by the official. The decisions of the Gears of War Addict Chairmen & Generals are final and non-disputable.

The tournament will be open to Gears of War Addict clan members and their friends. Anyone who chooses to participate in this Challenge, leave a reply to this post letting us know you’re in and if you’re bringing a friend. If you are bringing a friend, leave their GT so we can place them in the roster. The deadline to enter is Friday, May 1st @ 11:59 P.M.  After we figure out how many players we have, we’ll set the teams. The Horde Challenge will be held Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 @ 10:00pm EST.

Our second tournament is over, and I think I speak for everyone when I say, thank God!! As the saying goes “it only takes one person to ruin it for everyone”, well, we had 4+ to ruin it for everyone. This was our first public tournament and we ended up with a pretty good crowd. We had 16 members total, 10 were clan members (or became clan members) & 6 were people we had never heard from or played with. Right from the start, we had our worries that there were going to be problems. The rules for our tournament were that no matter what you didn’t kill the ref. / host or you would be disqualified. Unfortunately, we had 2 teams that decided to kill him in back to back rounds. Long story short, they threw a fit like the little kids they were when we told them they were out.

So the big queston…who won? Well, officially, no one. The tournament got so messed up with all of the little morons that joined up that among all of us we decided to play one last round with all the left over people. In that round, the results were as follows:

No, that wasn’t a typo, 3rd place was a tie and we decided to just leave it. I would like to thank everyone who participated in the tournament for both sticking up for GWA and for putting up with all of the crap. I would also like to welcome both pikminlink and itz cond3mned, our 2 newest members. As a token of our appreciation, we decided to rank everyone who played last night up, including the new members. Congrats to everyone on the rank ups!

What does this mean for future tournaments?

Well, to be honest, we haven’t decided. One thing is for certain, we will have some sort of screening process. If any of you have any suggestions, leave a comment or contact one of our chairman and let them know your thoughts. We’re thinking either, you have to be a clan member or vouched for by a clan member or that you have to play a few rounds with a chairman.

Will we stop having tournaments?

Hell no! We’ll be back on with another tournament next weekend so keep an eye on the website for more details and exact dates.

Each game will be hosted and refereed by a GWA Chairman. The hosting Chairman will be on his own wingman team. The official will stay out of the way and do his best not to be a distraction. If you kill the official then you will be eliminated unless the official determines it was his own fault. After the round is over, and all other participants are dead the hosting chairman will kill himself so that the winner of the round will get an extra kill added on to there points for killing the referee.

What’s the prize? The winners of this tournament will each win a copy of “Gears of War Aspho Fields” novel

The tournament will be open to anyone who wants particiapte, so tell your friends! Anyone who wants to particpate in this tournament leave a reply to this post with you and your partners gamertag to let us know that you’re interested. The deadline to let us know is friday arpil 10th by 11:59 P.M.  After we figure out how many players we have, we’ll make a bracket and let you know who you’re playing.

The tournament will be held Saturday, April 11th, 2009 @ 10:00pm EST. If for some reason participants do not  show up we will adjust the brackets/teams accordingly

Well, our first tournament is over. It was fun while it lasted. Above you can see the top 3 and below you can see the entire bracket. In this tournament we had 3 rankings up for grabs, Sergent, Corporal, and Private. xNNx Crusader took first place claiming the Sergent title, a major jump from his previous Grub position. Corporal went to SatansAssassin4 and Private to SnugTasslehoff. Congrats to the winners!
